Furniture - Chairs and Sofas
Two classic shaker inspired chairs from the 1960s and made by FDB Mobler in Denmark, formed in 1940 as a Co-operative to manufacture affordable but well designed furniture.
The curved lower backed chair is the J104 designed by Jorgen Baekmark in c.1966 in beech with a moulded ply seat and finished in a black gloss lacquer with satin black legs. 56cm wide x 44cm deep x 43cm seat height.
The taller chair is the J77 designed by Folke Palsson in the 60s and is in solid beech with the same paint finishes. Size 43cm wide x 37cm deep x 43cm seat height.
Condition is good vintage with a few marks and scuffs.
A very stylish chair and surprisingly comfortable this piece has been cleaned but we were unable to fully restore as one of the cross strings has broken and we've woven it into the others...it's perfectly good to sit on and use but doesn't have the perfect aesthetic and so lives in the 'rescue' corner until you decide to provide a caring home. Size 55cm wide x 79cm high x 60cm deep x 38cm seat height.
The classic mid-century woven 'basket' chair on black wire legs, this is a good clean example and a style statement for any room in the house, it's so very light and versatile. Size 70cm diameter x 70cm high x 38cm seat height. Cushion in vintage fabric £35.
The classic chair in which Blofeld played the villain in James Bond, and marketed by GPlan in the 60's as 'The most comfortable chair in the world'. Not sure we dare say that now but it is really comfortable! Completely new foam and wadding to meet fire regulations and re-upholstered in a groovy fabric 'Barbini' by Harlequin. The chair is large and sits on solid afromosia wood legs and castors. The chair swivels and pivots backwards and forwards with a gentle rocking action on a sprung mechanism...very soothing. Size 1m deep x 1m high x 94cm across top (88cm across arms).
